INTERFAITH FOOD PANTRY OF PORTAGE COUNTY, INC. FACTOIDS

IFP is a 501c3 non-profit corporation operating from 2005 to March 2016 in rent free donated space and prior to that (since inception in the late 90’s) at The Springs United Methodist Church.

  • Beginning in April 2016, the pantry has relocated to a new 5,000 square foot facility at 2810 Post Road, Plover. This building is owned by the Village of Plover and provided to the pantry on a no cost lease.
  • The purpose of the pantry is to act as hands of the community to serve the Portage County residents in need of supplemental food.
The pantry serves any resident of Portage County, commonly including unemployed, underemployed, elderly, handicapped, single parent or large households.
  • The pantry provides regular service twice per month, the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 6 to 8 PM.
  • The pantry serves an average of 650 persons (about 160 households) at each pantry or about 1,300 persons (320 households) per month.
  • Each household receives food in proportion to household size: about 50 to 80 pounds of food per each pantry.
  • Items distributed include meat, potatoes, frozen products, canned and boxed items, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy items, eggs, bread and bakery items.
  • Each pantry distributes about 9,600 pounds of food (nearly 10 tons per month).
  • Sources for food include Feeding America Food Bank, local retailers, restaurants, farms and food processors as well as food drives, church contributions and individual donations.
  • Funding sources of operational costs are collected from grants, church and individual donors. Total food costs are about $1,500 per month and operational costs are about $1,000 per month.
  • A capital fund drive to equip our new facility has been conducted with contributions from local businesses and individuals. Goal is $100,000.
All labor is 100% volunteer. This includes an average of 300 person-hours per month in procurement, sorting, distribution and administration of food.
  • The pantry is governed by a 12 person board of directors representing the pantry and local volunteer service.
