Project Fresh Clothes.
Provide funds to help purchase sizes of clothes that are in short supply as we help school age children start school in the fall with “new” school outfits.

Project Fresh ClothesProject Fresh Clothes, a United Methodist Church – Stevens Point and Plover intergenerational effort, soon will be in full swing to get 10,000 pieces of school clothing into the hands of children who need them in our community. The project’s goal is to provide several pieces of clothing for Kindergarten through 12th grade students who come to the distribution on August 13 at Ben Franklin Jr. High. This project runs in conjunction with Project Fresh Start, which provides registered children with school supplies and is coordinated by the United Way of Portage County Volunteer Center. We anticipate over 1000 children this year. Families are in need of support.

We are asking for donations of school-aged clothing in good condition to be dropped off at St. Paul’s UMC, 600 Wilshire Blvd, Stevens Point, The YMCA, 1000 Division St., Stevens Point or First Weber Realtors, 5424 US-10, Stevens Point, now until August 8.

We will be in need of helpers on Wednesday nights starting June 15 at 6:30-8:00 PM. We sort clothes by sizes and gender and have fun doing this! Come and join us if you can.

Monetary donations are also welcomed so we can purchase clothing sizes we need. Checks can be made out to St. Pauls UMC/Project Fresh Clothes.

Later we will be asking for volunteers to help with setting up  the week of August  8 and distributing and tearing down on Saturday August 13.

Whether you contribute your time, dollars or clothing, PFC is a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on the children in our community.

It’s May 31st and as the final checks are arriving in our Finance Office, we are pleased to announce that our preliminary total for Imagine No Malaria is $999,095.69! We’re only $904.31 away from our goal of raising a million dollars in the fight against malaria. Thank you to the 90% of our 460 churches that have participated in this effort to protect and save lives around the world. Director of Development Jean Ehnert Nicholas said, “ I fully anticipate that by the time we gather for Annual Conference in Middleton next week, we will be able to announce that we have even surpassed the one-million dollar goal!

We will celebrate our Imagine No Malaria success during Annual Conference at a Celebration Dinner on Saturday, June 10.

The Real Impact on the Lives of Children
Since Imagine No Malaria began in 2008, the number of malaria deaths has been cut from one every 30 seconds in 2008, to one every 60 seconds in 2012, to one every 2 minutes at the end of 2015! This is fantastic progress. However, malaria is a preventable disease and any death from malaria is a tragic death. Your gift of only $10 saves a life.
