“What does your LOVE look like…in the community, the world, and in your congregation?” Our District Superintendent has asked us to look at our life through this lens. What do we see?

Well, we see efforts to be present in all three of those places by our local church and our greater church in the world. Please see our brochure at the Connection Center or on the website for specifics in study groups, social groups, and service groups. Also other ministry areas have opportunities that provide answers to this question as well. Explore the possibilities!

As we go about “Being the Church” in our daily lives, let’s remember John Wesley’s wise words…
“Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.”

Advent Sing-a-long
Beginning Tuesday, November 29, for four Tuesdays, 6:30 – 7:30 pm, at the Plover location, we will sing our way through the Advent songs in our Hymnal. We will share out thoughts and feelings about the time of anticipation. For all ages! Come as you can.

Prayer Space
Please come and have quiet time with God. There are some activities and tools to help you to stay in the peace given by God. It is open anytime the church building is open. The Prayer Place is located at the entrance of the Discovery Zone near the north entrance of the Stevens Point church building.

Another RACK Opportunity

rack-banner-newsletterLast spring, the Outreach Committee provided packets for the congregation. These were to encourage our participation in Random Acts of Christian Kindness. We will be offering packets again this Advent season to spread the love of Christ during the holidays. And the activities are expanding. We will be partnering with the Family Ministry group. They will be providing intergenerational materials revolving around the Advent calendar theme. Outreach will be offering a suggestion list of activities and cards to hand out to the recipients of these Random Acts of Christmas Kindness. We encourage everyone to give this a try.

Fall Rummage Sale

rummage-saleOh my goodness—where did all the merchandise come from?  You folks really did some cleaning.  A warm hearted thanks to all the many workers who donated their time and to the men who came to help pack up and haul away.  What a 3 days we had!  We raised over $2,000 that is going to the Interfaith Food Pantry to purchase items that go to those in need in Portage County.  We were also able to donate many boxes of winter clothing, blankets, caps and mittens and scarves to Place of Peace.  Some of these items will be placed in their Kid’s Closet clothing pantry located at the Downtown Mission Church for folks to select as needed.  Some will go to the Warming Center and the rest to the Evergreen Community Initiatives homeless outreach project in the Madison and Milwaukee areas. Per usual, we continue to follow the words of John Wesley, when we “DO ALL THE GOOD WE CAN.”  Thank you for supporting this mission project to the community and beyond.
