Important Notice for 30 Hour Famine!
So that we can offer an amazing experience for all those participating in the 30 Hour Famine, we’ve decided to join with a youth group in the Appleton area that is also hosting this event. We will connect with St. Thomas in Menasha–we did the event with them 2 years ago–they are a great group of teens and leaders and we are excited to reunite in this ministry!!
The 30 Hour Famine happens this weekend!! Change in host site–we will travel from the UMC-Stevens Point to Menasha and overnight there.
**We leave Stevens Point at 4:45PM this Friday, FEB 24, and return to Stevens Point at 7:15PM this Saturday, FEB 25.
Registration is still open–if your Youth (6th-12th grade) is still considering joining this event but has yet to register, please contact Laura Courtright Burns at lauracourtright@gmail.com or 715-340-4523.  We are getting our drivers together and want to make sure we have room for all who want to attend. The joint Youth Ministry of the United Methodist Church and Intercession Episcopal Church will sponsor an area-wide, 30 Hour Famine on February 24th and 25th. We join hundreds of thousands of Youth from around the world for this life-changing event. Our Youth will grow closer to Christ and each other as they fast together for 30 hours and raise awareness and funds to fight hunger. All Youth, grades 6-12, are welcome to join us for the event and experience.

Here’s what will happen:

  • Friday, February 24, students will stop eating after breakfast (about 8am for a 30 hour fast.) They will miss the next 3 meals and only drink juice and water. We will gather all the Youth together at the United Methodist Church (Stevens Point location) at 6pm to start our journey together. We will spend Friday night at church with games and activities!
  • Saturday morning and early afternoon we will spend learning about world hunger and participating in local community service. Then we will all break our fast together at 2pm with a simple meal together.
  • Throughout our time together we will provide plenty of healthy drinks and water.      **If you are concerned about the dietary needs for your child, please contact us and we can make arrangements for a modified fast. We want every Youth to have the chance to participate!

If your Youth would like to join in this event, please print, fill out and return the 30 Hour Famine Consent Form and the Youth Ministry Permission/Release Form to us at your earliest convenience. If you have completed the Youth Ministry Permission/Release Form for last year’s Advent Retreat, you do not need to complete another one of these forms for this event—this form is good for the 2016-2017 school year.

Fundraising forms are available at both the United Methodist Church and Intercession Episcopal Church. Your Youth may also register with our team’s 30 Hour Famine fundraising website for online giving—it’s simple and easy at:  youth.worldvision.org/team/SYC
